A creative through and through – Shaquira has just completed her MA in Creative and Media Enterprises at the University of Warwick in March 2021. A large part of her identity is rooted in her early childhood years in the Caribbean, before immigrating to the UK at around 10 years old. These experiences grounded her in expression and discovery and sent her down the path of a creative performer.

Before her masters she completed her BA in Theatre and Performance studies where she created and performed in her own physical theatre solo show, belted on stage in several musicals, directed and produced at the Warwick Arts Centre, and started a new student society. A cappella seemed to be her calling and the society brought with it the opportunity to host a UK national A cappella competition for 10 groups around the country. Off the back of the competition and with the support from her master’s degree, Shaquira created her own company The Open A cappella Community.

During the pandemic Shaquira used her experience to build a small online school teaching children English, Maths, Singing and Drama from age ranges 4 – 19 years old. In the little spare time she has, Shaquira loves to paint, write, read, and most importantly sing. She currently works for Purple Monster, a company specialising in engagement and creativity.
